Pictures from the 63rd Sapporo Snow & Ice Festival

by in Japan

Konichiwa! Back on the ship after a few days enjoying the sights in Sapporo. The festival was great! Second time around in Sapporo was much like my second time around in most cities: Ate better food, went to more places, talked to more people and took a lot better photographs. Here are several of my favorites from the past few days. If you’re in Sapporo for the rest of the fest this week, have a great time!

Mickey Mouse on ice- just like his creator.

Under the clock tower.

This sculpture was one of my favorites.

Getting a fresh pour at the Sapporo Beer Museum.

Wipeout!

Standing outside the Sapporo Beer Museum.

Only in Japan. An anime spanking scene in snow.

I call the guy on your left the Japanese Little Richard.

Japan's 2012 Ballon D'or and Women's World Cup winning captain, Homare Sawa.

My favorite snow sculpture.

The Taj Mahal replicated in three days in snow.

Three samples for 500 yen. Best drink deal in Japan.

Peace out Sapporo, Japan. It was real!

Yes, it is quite remarkable seeing the creativity of our fellow humans. Too bad we can’t shift focus from wars and devote more of our intelligence and ingenuity to other things.
