2012 Sakura Tour Photos

by in Japan

Yes I am alive! My apologies for not posting for nearly two weeks. If you follow my FB page and/or Instagram (ihartravel), you know that I was touring Japan to see the sakura (cherry blossoms) while they are in bloom. Surrounded by so much beauty, I could not find the time to write. But better late than never; all this week you’ll see posts about my wonderful vacation tour of the sakura on here and in guest posts I am writing.

Currently, I am out to sea headed toward Central Vietnam.

To wet your appetite for beautiful pictures of the sakura from last week, here are several selected photos that I edited today. All pictures were shot with my Nikon D80 in RAW and edited using Photoshop CS5.

The tour started with a hanami at crowded Shinjuku Gyoen Park, Tokyo.

The Docomo building surrounded by sakura in Gyoen Park, Tokyo.

Next stop: Beautiful Kyoto where I put on my Sunday best as I viewed the sakura on Easter Sunday.

There were a lot of traditional Japanese weddings during sakura season.

Osaka was the next stop after Kyoto.

Osaka was fun. I even got to dress like a shogun while touring Osaka castle.

The lawn on the grounds of Osaka castle were the perfect place to hanami...

...to play with friends and family...

...and chat with the younger generation.

Up next: Nara, where I did not realize there were so many deer.

Nara proved to be one of the highlights of my tour.

Fujigoko was the last stop.

Some of those photos don’t even look real! I can’t believe how thick the cherry blossoms grow — and those deer! And I LOVE your Easter outfit — very, very handsome!!

Thank you for the compliment, Abby! The blossoms are amazing. A few days ago they began falling and it looked like snow flakes blowing around. Even when they fall, they have a way of making you be awe-inspired by them.

Gorgeous scenery! I love the blossoms themselves, but I think that last photo actually wins for me.

Thank you very much Emily! Have you left for Cuba yet? I am weeks behind on all my blog reading, so I apologize for asking a question you may have already answered in a post :-) I was excited to read about Cuba being your choice though.

Nope, Cuba is in September, so I haven’t even started planning yet! We’ve just got our plane tickets and a very rough idea of where we’ll go so far.

Awesome pics man….You have a great eye. And yeah…putting Don Draper to shame…

My man Deej! Thank you! I only wish I had Draper’s wardrobe. Actually thinking of getting a ‘Mad Men’ style suit when I am in Bangkok. Thank you for the compliment on the photographs. I was very inspired there. I switched back to my Nikon D80 from the D700 just to make sure it was I taking the pictures and not the camera, lol.

Those sakura pix are breathtaking, second only to your shogun photo.
